My Oulu: New map offers winter tips for spending leisure time in Oulu region

Newly published ‘Winter Tips to Oulu’ map brings together the activities of the dark and snowy winter season. The map includes outdoor swimming locations and sledding hills, as well as indoor activities for the coldest days, for example.
This year, restaurants have also been added to the map.
“The restaurants that offer salmon soup are listed separately. Those are the ones that people often ask for,” explains Travel Advisor Tarja Ikola.
Whether you are a local or a tourist, you will not run out of activities and sights with ‘Winter Tips to Oulu’ in your hands.
“If you are entertaining visitors, you can get ideas on where to take them and what to do in Oulu,” Ikola tips.
Nature experiences nearby
The new map gives you tips for different kinds of trips.
Saaga Travel organises affordable day trips, for example to Iso-Syöte, which are aimed especially at international students. The Pohjola Route offers Christmas routes in different themes, for example, for culture enthusiasts or families with children.
Travel Advisor Ikola herself wants to experience a winter brunch, such as organised in Ii and Liminganlahti.
“You do not have to go far from Oulu city centre to experience the winter.”

– ’Winter Tips to Oulu’ can be picked up at Oulu Tourist Information, hotels in Oulu, the railway station, Science Centre Tietomaa, Oulu Museum of Art, Northern Ostrobothia Museum, Oulu 10 service point and Cultural Centre Valve.
– A Digital version can be found on Issuu digital plarform in English and in Finnish.
– Oulu Tourist Information (Hallituskatu 36 B, 90100 Oulu) is open from Monday till Friday at 10 am – 4 pm (closed on 24 December 2021 and 6–7 January 2022).
