My Oulu: Colorful Restaurant now in Pohjankartano – delicacies from 23 countries

The lobby of the Pohjankartano School will be filled with homely atmosphere and exotic flavors on Saturday November 16. The popular pop-up event Colorful Restaurant will include 23 home chefs from all over the world.
The event offers home chefs an opportunity to exhibit their culture and cooking skills. The event will include the happy babble of voices and the scents of spices, and you can taste different foods and sweet treats for affordable prices.
The Colorful Restaurant was organized last at the Oulu International School in May, where 1 500 customers arrived to enjoy the delicacies.
“This fall, the Colorful Restaurant will be held in Pohjankartano for the first time. The vast facilities of Pohjankartano School make it possible for more countries to participate. We will use the school’s cafeteria as our dining area as well”, Event Coordinator Mia Lindberg from the city of Oulu’s Multicultural Centre Villa Victor explains.
The Colorful Restaurant will take you on a culinary journey to 23 countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, China, Columbia, Latvia, Lebanon, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
All dishes will cost 1–5 €.
“Bring some cash with you, but you can also pay with MobilePay to some home chefs”, Lindberg mentions.
The event offers home chefs a chance to practice event organization since they will be participating in the pop-up restaurant planning and organization before and after the event. OSAO’s international travel students will also participate in the event organization for practice.
